Girls Inc. Learning
How do you create a rainbow?
What 3 materials transfer light? Water/ Ice, Plastic/ Resin, and Glass! Lets explore:
Studying electricity, current, heat at the metal shop... and then experiencing it with welding
Coefficient of thermal expansion... what does that mean?
Sonja teaches convection with colored dyes
We brought in a master jewelry designer. She talked about how she started and now continues her dream job or career.
Chemistry is experienced when resin cures, it produces heat. Ledoux tells us how
Ledoux shows us how dyes affect the resin, the chemical properties of the resin, and each girl makes a tile during the experiment
We work with Carter Science Institute to put together a learning curriculum which integrates what we are creating with their school studies. Here Carlyn is teaching about the refraction of light and the light spectrum.
Metal Lesson: Through CSI’s learning lesson, Katelynn (doing a UTA internship with Dallas Glass Art) demonstrated and taught the girls how circuits come alive in the metal studio.
